Gingerbread Tenement

This image depicts an inner-city gingerbread residence. It makes extensive use of textures obtained by plopping food on a flatbed scanner: chewing gum (steps), graham crackers (lower wall) and M&Ms (upper wall). After being scanned, the leftover goodies were used for, um, culinary research. (*Burp!*)

The image also contains numerous oddball details. The witch's residence includes wallpapers depicting black cats, cauldrons, jack-o-lanterns, and bats. Naturally, the witch is watching Bewitched on TV. There's also a mangy cat by the garbage can on the street, an homage to the cartoonist George Booth.

In the detail shot, we can see the entrance sign (made of chocolate, natch) which is illuminated by a lemondrop light: "Baking School. Children welcome."

Closeup - "Baking School. Children welcome."
